I’ve been seeing a lot of discussions around creating a night routine and its highlighted how much I need one. I not only don’t get a lot of sleep but my quality of sleep tends to not be the best due to the way I go to sleep. There was a couple weeks I kept passing out with the light and tv on, without properly laying down or changing my clothes. A HOT mess.
This was a tipping point of sorts for me and I knew I needed to change how I was going to sleep. To be completely transparent, I’ve only gotten slightly better with this; but at least the tv isn’t watching me anymore so #progress.
I was recently talking with one of my friends and she expressed she also struggled with creating a routine and sticking with it because they get boring. But I realized, there are so many ways you can unwind to go to sleep in a way that doesn’t feel mundane.
We can change it up, mix and match so that our bodies don’t feel like we’re doing the same ol same ol. And especially with a lot of us working from home, we need some type of variety to make sure we don’t go stir crazy.
So, your “homework” for this week is to come up with a list of things that are relaxing to you that you can do before bed. You can start as simple as ” take a shower and drink some tea”. Your routine also doesn’t have to (and shouldn’t) feel like a to-do list; the goal is to relax, not check everything off and feel bad if you didn’t.
Let me know your favorite ways to slip into your slumber or let me know if you need help coming up with some!
Peaceful resting 💤
Stay Golden,
